Vertical Stacker: Automated Warehousing and Logistics Equipment

Vertical stackers are a type of warehousing and logistics equipment designed for efficient stacking and retrieving of goods, typically used in automated warehouse systems. They move along vertical and horizontal tracks and, through automated control systems, precisely stack and retrieve goods between the shelves. Vertical stackers not only enhance storage density but also reduce manual operations, improving both the efficiency and accuracy of warehousing tasks. They are indispensable equipment in modern warehousing and logistics systems.

Main Components of the Vertical Stacker

Frame

The main framework of the crane, supporting the overall structure of the vertical stacker, usually made of high-strength steel to withstand significant loads.

Horizontal Movement Mechanism

Enabled by a horizontal motor and wheel set, this mechanism moves the vertical stacker along the track through the aisle, allowing it to run horizontally between shelves.

Vertical Lifting Mechanism

Installed inside the frame and consisting of an electric lifting system and guide rails, this mechanism allows the fork to move up and down along the column, achieving vertical access to goods.

Fork Mechanism

The forks are the devices directly used for handling goods, typically capable of extending and retracting to accurately pick and place goods.

Control System

Usually utilizing PLC control, it is connected to the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) to achieve automated stacking and retrieval operations. The control system can adjust the speed and position of the vertical stacker and optimize operational routes.

Safety Devices

Including limit switches, photoelectric sensors, emergency stop buttons, and collision prevention devices, these ensure the vertical stacker operates safely, avoiding accidental damage or injury to goods or personnel.

Working Principle of the Vertical Stacker

Automatic Dispatch

The control system transmits the target location information to the vertical stacker based on the instructions from the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Positioning to Shelf Location

The horizontal movement mechanism of the vertical stacker moves the equipment along the horizontal track to the target shelf location.

Vertical Lifting

After reaching the specified shelf area, the vertical lifting mechanism raises or lowers the fork to the designated slot height.

Goods Storage and Retrieval

The fork extends to place the goods in the target slot or retrieves goods from the target slot.

Return

After completing storage or retrieval tasks, the vertical stacker returns to the starting position via the horizontal track, waiting for the next instruction.

Features of the Vertical Stacker

Efficient Space Utilization

Vertical stacker maximizes the use of vertical warehouse space, significantly increasing storage density, particularly suitable for high-rise automated warehouses.

High Degree of Automation

Vertical stacker is capable of linking with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) to achieve automated storage and dispatch, reducing manual operations.

Precision and Efficiency

High positioning accuracy and fast storage and retrieval speeds, suitable for high-frequency storage and picking of goods.

Flexible Adaptability

Vertical stackers can be designed in various specifications and load capacities based on the size, weight, and layout of goods, meeting different storage needs.

Labor Saving

The vertical stacker can operate continuously for long periods, reducing the need for human labor, minimizing human errors, and lowering the risk of working at heights.

Applications of the Vertical Stacker

Automated Warehouses

Vertical stackers are widely used for high-level shelf storage in large warehousing centers, suitable for storing various bulk commodities and palletized goods.

Logistics Sorting Centers

Vertical stackers are used for sorting and stacking in logistics warehouses, particularly suitable for high-density storage areas, meeting the needs for rapid sorting.

Manufacturing Warehouses

Vertical stackers are used in the storage of raw materials and finished products in manufacturing, achieving efficient material stacking and retrieval, enhancing production and supply chain efficiency.

Cold Chain Storage

Vertical stackers are suitable for storing cold chain products in low-temperature environments, reducing manual operations in cold areas, and maintaining the quality and freshness of goods.

E-commerce and Retail Warehouses

The vertical line stacker can quickly respond to the storage and retrieval needs of small batches of goods with multiple frequencies and batches, improving order fulfillment efficiency.

In conclusion, the vertical stacker plays an important role in modern warehousing and logistics, offering advantages such as efficient space utilization, high automation levels, and precise positioning. It enhances overall warehouse operational efficiency and reduces labor costs.
